Week 13
How far along? 13 Weeks 5 days
Size of Baby: Georgia Peach!
Total weight gain/loss: At my doctor visit this week, I have lost 1 lb. from pre pregnancy weight
Maternity clothes? Some… I have been wearing mostly things I bought for pregnancy since they are loose but not specifically maternity clothes. Although, as I write this I am in some black maternity capris and they feel just as good as my pj pants!
Sleep: Off and on. I am still trying to train myself to sleep on my side but since that causes me to not sleep as well, I am enjoying my back while I can! It is usually that I start by trying to lay on my side and in the middle of the night I give up and fall fast asleep on my back.
Best moment this week: Hearing our little one’s heartbeat and knowing we have this precious gift growing strong!
Have you told family and friends: Yes! Still not Facebook official though
Miss Anything? My chiropractor in KS! Hahaha, not baby related, but I do! I have found one out here but I just don’t get the same relief. I’m thinking it is probably because they can’t adjust me the same way now that I’m pregnant not the ability of the chiropractor out here.
Movement: Not yet! So excited for it though!
Food cravings: It has changed to salty this week! Sour cream and onion and BBQ chips have been the go to satisfying treat these days. I also had some shrimp sushi this week which was so good I have wanted it everyday since!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve not been sick, but potatoes do not sound or look good at all. However the fact that chips have been so good is ironic
Have you started to show yet: I feel like it, but I think it still looks like I need to lay off the chips and cookies not the cute bump yet.
Gender prediction: I haven’t had a strong feeling this week so I am still sticking with gut from earlier
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Headaches, not my usual energy, and some round ligament pain
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! It’s been a busy week, but I’m enjoying feeling better which makes me feel way more normal
Looking forward to: Our ultrasound… still not for another 6 weeks or so, but hearing the heartbeat makes me want to see our precious little one! -
Week 12
How far along? 12 Weeks 6 Days
Size of Baby: Plum
Total weight gain/loss: Back to my pre-pregnancy weight!
Maternity clothes? I have some… I have only worn one of the shirts to be more comfortable is something loose… sooo comfy!
Sleep: Not so good this week… I’m trying to get used to sleeping on my side, which is killing my shoulders.
Best moment this week: Going to the chiropractor! Fixing my shoulders might help me sleep better
Have you told family and friends: Yes! Still not Facebook official though
Miss Anything? Still my energy and stamina
Movement: Not yet! So excited for when it happens!
Food cravings: Chocolate! I love those M&Ms J
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing making me sick, but veggies still don’t sound great…
Have you started to show yet: Still have a belly but technically not a baby bump yet
Gender prediction: I still think it may be a girl
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: Insomnia, headaches, no energy, and some round ligament pain
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: I have been a little moody towards poor Wes… I try to be good in public and then let it out when I get home
Looking forward to: Hearing the heartbeat at our appointment next week!! -

Anything making you queasy or sick: Raw meat and the thought of veggies
Have you started to show yet: Even though I have technically lost weight, I have this belly I didn’t have before. However, right now it looks way more like I ate too many cookies J

Telling Family
When we found out we were pregnant, I wanted to wait to tell family in person. We had a trip to Michigan planned already to celebrate February birthdays and Wes’ parents 30th wedding anniversary. On our way, we were going to be stopping at my parents house to drop Simba off for the weekend. I wanted to tell them in a unique way and I knew it was going to be completely unexpected since we had just moved and everything.
To tell my parents, I made them this sign.
We walked in and I was so excited to tell them, I was about to burst. It was about 9pm and we were going to be flying out in the morning so I knew this was the only time I could tell them both together before we left. I had wrapped the sign and gave it to my mom as we were sitting down in the living room to chat a little. I told her it was a ‘thank you’ for taking care of Simba while we were gone to keep it a surprise and not have her questions, “why are you giving me a random present?” When she opened it, my dad just looked at it and my mom looked from the sign to me back to the sign. Finally, I couldn’t hold it in any longer and said “I’m pregnant!” They were both so excited, jumped up and hugged us. Mom told me later that she was wondering if it was true or if it was because we already call her Nana to Simba. She didn’t know if I meant a grand baby or just referring to her grand dog!I made a sign for Wes’ parents as well, but instead of it being the same thing, we came up with another saying. Wes felt that because we have a niece and another one on the way, they were already promoted.
We then flew out to the next morning to go visit Wes’ family. His parents picked us up from the Chicago airport which meant a 3 hour drive home. I had already talked to Wes and asked when he wanted to tell them. He wanted to wait until we were home so that meant trying to talk for over 3 hours (stopped for food) without even mention or hinting about this massive news bursting inside us! Somehow we made it and when we got home and everything into the house, Linda started cooking and Terry was relaxing. I brought the present in and we told them it was an early anniversary gift. Linda I think knew right away by the way she looked at me but she didn’t say anything. Terry opened the present and one of the first words on the sign that appeared was cousins. Linda, already suspecting, knew right away, looked at me a smiled. Terry finished unwrapping it and just read it not getting it yet. Finally Wes had to say “the key word is cousins… for there to be cousins that would mean…” Finally it clicked and they both gave me a hug and were very excited as well!
